Vyshyvanka Day in 2019 is a highly symbolic holiday. It is not official, but young people today hold the date in great respect. There will be concerts, flash mobs and a festive procession in support of Ukrainian culture. So do not miss the occasion and be sure to take part.

When do we celebrate this year?

So when is Vyshyvanka Day in 2019? The holiday has no fixed date: it is marked on the third Thursday of May every year. This time Ukrainians will be putting on their national dress on 16 May 2019.

The procession in vyshyvankas will take place beyond Ukraine's borders too. Many Ukrainians living abroad will put on embroidered shirts to support their national traditions, keep their cultural heritage alive and introduce people in other countries to Ukrainian history.

On that Thursday everyone who wishes wears a vyshyvanka to work and to school. In doing so they show their unity and honour Ukrainian traditions.
